I've had a busy few weeks preparing for my first 'season' of craft fairs. There was the varnishing of 420 stones in just one day (!!!), deciding how to display my goods, making props and signs and enlisting some friends to help me with production and with fine-tuning my sales pitch.
I had a really fun day at Coventry's Herbert Art Gallery yesterday where Poppit's Cupboard took part in their 'Making Merry' Christmas event. One of my best friends (who I have now promoted to Head of Sales) came with me and together we enjoyed meeting other crafts people, telling people all about Poppit's Story Stones and enjoying listening to the stories children would tell us as they came to our table and played with our story stones. (It's also fair to say a few adults joined in the story telling fun!) Feedback from those who came was amazing - they loved Poppit's Story Stones! The Make Believe and Work Life sets were especially popular amongst families, but professionals working with children could see so many great uses for the other kits including 'I Feel…', Home Life and Helping Hands sets. People commented on just how tactile the shiny, porcelain varnished white stones are, how beautiful the illustrations are and how lovely the story stones are packaged and presented. People just couldn't help but pick the story stones up!
I came away buzzing with many new ideas, smiling from the children who had come to say hello and tell us some stories and excited to attend my next event! Come and say hi at the Warwickshire Christmas Craft Shopping Experience…and tell me a story, if you like!
Mummy had a visit from a VIP!
